888 Holdings, the second largest online gambling company in the UK, has a penned a deal with US based gambling giant Harrahs.
The deal lifted 888's share price 14% on the days trade and is seen by some as a potential foothold into the US market once restrictions are lifted. It will see 888's Dragonfish b2b unit providing poker and casino services to Harrah’s Caesars Casino and World Series of Poker brands in the U.K.
What exactly that means is not certain, but as 888 is not a platform developer, presumably it means 888 will be proving online casino and poker room management services for Harrahs' online business.
Of course the holy grail for 888, will be the opportunity to provide such services to Harrahs with respect to the US market if and when UIGEA is repealed. Harrah's, after objecting to online gambling for some time, recently began throwing its lobbying support behind a new regulatory regime in the US.
Their choice to partner with 888 for online services is interesting from the point of view that 888 have yet to settle with the US justice department as PartyGaming did earlier in the year.
