Golden Casino to Close its Doors

Published 16 Nov 2009 by Peter Bowman

As of December 1 this year, Golden Casino will be shutting its doors to new players.

We reported recently that the casino had come under mounting pressure from US authorities in recent months, including measures to seize funds in US bank accounts operated by the casino.

Golden is one of a number of casinos choosing to continue to service the US market despite the UIGEA payment processing restrictions in place, and they grew to become one of the more popular US facing online casinos, with a customer base estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of players.

But with mounting pressure from authorities, current owners have decided to call it a day and are in the process of selling up shop. Under the new ownership, Golden will no longer be accepting new players as of December 1, 2009.

Currently registered players will apparently be able to continue playing for the time being, but the writing does appear to be on the wall, and Golden Casino's days as one of the most popular US facing online casinos would seem to be well and truly over.
