Live betting seems to have been the driving force behind revenue growth at Unibet over the last year.
The Swedish gambling group reported its earning to the end of June 2009 and revealed gross revenues for the six month to June grew from £66.2m compared with £59.2m for the same period last year. And according to CEO Peter Nylander, much of the growth was attributable to live betting take-up.
Live betting revenues 37.3% to gross sports betting revenues, compared with 23.2% last year.
"Unibet continues to be at the forefront (of the industry) driving the convergence between online gambling and broadcasting with more than 1,800 streamed sports events during the second quarter and the launch of live dealer casino for our customers,” Nylander said.
Other reported achievements included the signing of major sponsorship deals with football clubs Bruges FC (Belgium), Ferencvaros (Hungary) and Valencia FC (Spain).
