Live casino operators NetplayTV recently started airing its live roulette games on the UK free to air Channel Five, and anti-gambling interests aren't happy.
According to a report in The Daily Mail religious and anti-gambling groups are not at all happy about a change in free to air broadcast regulations that have allowed Netplay's Supercasino to be viewed on Channel Five.
In May 2009 national broadcast regulator Ofcom reclassified 'teleshopping' to include gambling, opening the door for live casino operators to buy air time on non-subscription channels. The changes were said to be made in order to help broadcasters generate additional revenues in the current downturn.
Supercasino, the live casino brand of Netplay now broadcasts is live roulette game on a limited schedule, including midnight to 4am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
