According to a new study from Juniper Research, the value of the mobile gambling market could hit $48 billion by 2015.
The report, published September 1 and titled 'Mobile Gambling Markets: Casinos, Lotteries & Betting 2010-2015' concludes that the amount wagered annually on mobile devices will exceed $48 billion by 2015 due to gambling legislation liberalization and increased availability of betting services.
Presently the bulk of activity is limited to UK mobile casino and betting services, and the recently introduced iPAT service in Japan.
This is expected to change significantly with services like VODone (lottery) in China launching as well as the potential for entry of the US market pending legislative developments there.
