eCogra have released statistics related to player/casino disputes they mediated during the 2009 calender year.
The stats have been released in a report compiled by eCOGRA's Fair Gaming Advocate Tex Rees, which indicated that around 50% of disputes handled were satisfied in favour of the player.
In all, 826 player complaints were received - 10% up on the 2008 number. Of those 826, just over 200 related to casinos that were either not eCOGRA certified and which the organization could therefore not mediate, or were deemed 'anonymous, non-specific and/or abusive in nature' and consequently not handled. Of the remaining 600 or so, 303 were resolved in favor of the player.
The main issues causing disputes were revealed to be related to cash-ins (46%), bonuses (22%) and locked accounts (19%). No surprises here.
'The hierarchy of disputes remains the same as it was in 2008, although the percentages differ slightly," Rees said. "Once again I found operators quick to respond and fully cooperative in addressing the mediated disputes.'
In all, 141 online casino operators were certified and monitored by eCOGRA during 2009.
