Justice Department shuts down eWalletXpress

Published 21 Nov 2010 by Rita Malhotra

Canadian based online payments processor eWalletXpress is no longer available to US players due to rumored Justice Department intervention.

The payment processor has been unavailable to US players since November 12 and the official line from their customer service department is that they are experiencing technical difficulties.

The story emerging in gambling forums and on certain Igaming news site is that the US Justice Department have served them with a federal warrant and frozen all funds. eWalletXpress will likely be forced to exit the US market to avoid prosecution path that other payment processors, including NeTeller, have had to go down in the past.

Whether players will get to retrieve funds from existing frozen accounts is unknown.

eWalletXpress had become a popular account funding option for US players with credit cards and larger payment processors largely unavailable since UIGEA became law.
