ESPN's coverage of this years WSOP final table action drew a viewing audience of just over 2 million viewers.
According to Nielsen Ratings Data figures just released, ESPN's coverage of action from last Tuesday's World Series of Poker final table attracted a 1.8 household coverage rating, equating to an average 1,806,113 households tuning in to watch Joe Cada become the tournament's youngest ever winner. The numbers were roughly the same as last year, which pulled a 1.9 household coverage rating.
Over all, ESPN's 15 week coverage of the event averaged a 1.0 rating, again consistent with last year but up 13% in the Male 25-54 demographic.
So how does this compare to other popular tv programs? Well according to tvbythenumbers.com poker still has a ways to go before it rivals regular season NFL games, with ESPN's coverage of Monday night's FALCONS/SAINTS game pulling 8.8 million households. It is also unlikely to challenge the Mentalist (16 million) or Two and a Half Men (13 million).
But look out professional wrestling (WWE Raw pulling around 3.3 million households) and NCIS (around 2.5 million households) which are well and truly in Poker's sights.
