FullTilt culminated its week long five year anniversary today with the running of what they hoped to be a Guinness World Record poker tournament.
Looking for 50,000 players, and already having 47,000 registered shortly before their scheduled Sunday at 15:05 (ET) kickoff, they looked like they were going to go very close. But unfortunatley a record will not be possible.
That's because rival poker room Pokerstars have held a little record breaker of their own, and have already registered more than 50,000 players.
The Pokerstars' tourney kicks off a couple of hours before FullTilts and will no doubt take some of the shine of FullTilts big Guinness attempt. But with a $5 buy in and a $45,000 first prize up for grabs, I'm tipping most players aren't going to be thinking about the missed record just at the moment.
